College Success Initiative
The Boston Education Collaborative's College Success Initiative (CSI) helps urban students succeed in college. CSI encourages churches and community organizations to start or to enhance support groups for students entering or attending college. The program also works with colleges and schools to provide technical assistance in matters of diversity, and connects them with urban churches and other inner-city groups.
The New City Scholars, College Success Initiative's multicultural learning teams, are based on a peer support strategy where 8 to 10 students from diverse ethnic backgrounds attend the same college and hold each other accountable for the success of all team members (similar to the peer-support model pioneered by the Posse Foundation).
