Internships With EGC
If you are passionate about the city’s well-being and want to learn how to work in a ministry context and do community research in Boston, our internships are an excellent place to serve and grow. At the intersection of churches, social issues, and research, internships at EGC help you develop skills and perspectives that will shape you for the rest of your life.
The EGC Internship Program connects talented student learners with urban ministry practitioners. We recruit interns who will contribute to EGC’s research and initiative priorities while receiving support that advances their professional and personal development goals. The EGC internship program entails a competitive application and interview process, orientation, training, and cohort meetings.
Associate-level Internships are for those with significant ministry or related research experience. Associates are given training and professional development support on par with staff and are expected to be more self-directed in their work.
Research Fellows are highly qualified scholars who do independent research funded through a university or hospital, in partnership with EGC.
Current Openings
COMMUNICATIONS INTERN
EGC translates city learnings, social science, and Biblical reflection into relevant, readable publications that offer pathways to action in the city. A communications intern assists the Creative Content team in generating content for the EGC web site, blog, and social media.
An EGC communications intern may contribute in any of the following ways:
Draft blogs from EGC research data, interviews, or other resources
Copy edit, line edit, and proofread blogs
Plan, create, and disseminate social media content
Upload content to the blog and create reader response pathways
Conduct and transcribe interviews with city ministry leaders
Create infographics from research data
Brainstorm and develop marketing campaigns
Volunteer with EGC programs and write program spotlight articles
Journalistic research and event reporting
Tag video footage for use in EGC documentaries and blogs
Relevant skills/interests may include:
Clear, compelling, relevant online writing
Diversity- and inclusion-minded communication
Excellent written skills for editing at various levels
Collaboration with an editorial team
Social media competence
Multi-media integration
Journalistic research and interviews
Online marketing
Video editing
URBAN ISSUES DATA RESEARCH INTERN
Interns work closely with EGC’s Applied Research and Initiatives staff and EGC partners to support research question design, data collection, and data analysis for (primary and secondary) qualitative and quantitative research projects and case study development. Ideally, candidates will have completed one qualitative or quantitative research, statistics or data visualization course.

PROGRAM ADMINISTRATION INTERN
Program administration interns support the day-to-day workings of EGC and its programs that keep our various initiatives running smoothly. Specific assignments will depend on the work flow at that time and the skills and learning interests of the intern.
A program administration intern may contribute in any of the following ways:
Input data and file documents (hard & soft copies)
Support with planning and executing events
Make, take, and direct phone calls
Update documents & spreadsheets
Take notes during meetings
Do research through web searches and interviews and create writeups
Draft memos
Relevant skills/interests may include:
Managing multiple projects
Clear and compelling verbal and written communication and listening skills
Collaboration with diverse teams
Proficiency in basic computer skills: MS Office, Google Suite, Gmail, & Zoom
Willingness to learn new tools and try on different tasks and responsibilities
